This season hasn't been kind to The Volunteer Falcons, who are still winless after their ninth game. They lost to Cherokee on the road by a decisive 35-20 margin on Friday. Volunteer lost against Cherokee in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 19-18 score last time.
Volunteer's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Keelin Releford, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown, and Aden Parson who gained 36 total yards and two touchdowns.
Volunteer's loss was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. As for Cherokee, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Volunteer is on the road again on Friday and play against Grainger. Grainger is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Cherokee, they will head out on the road to face off against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
