Pikes Peak Christian and Elbert are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Pikes Peak Christian Eagles will face off against the Elbert Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pikes Peak Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Dolores Huerta Prep 66-28. The Eagles pushed the score to 58-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Scorpions cut but never quite recovered from.

It was another big night for Eddie Harmon, who went 8 of 12 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Max Singler, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals.
Pikes Peak Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Elbert waltzed into their game on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 58-24 win over the Falcons. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Falcons are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pikes Peak Christian better keep an eye on Ethan Tesman. He was instrumental in Elbert's win, going 11 of 15 to rack up 26 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Tesman has posted since back in February of 2024. Caleb Cornell was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 10 points and eight boards.
Pikes Peak Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Elbert, their record now sits at 11-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pikes Peak Christian has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 40.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Elbert struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Pikes Peak Christian came up short against Elbert in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 69-56. Can Pikes Peak Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
