The Westover Patriots were the 41-39 winner over the Monroe Golden Tornadoes when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Westover fell 61-48 to Monroe on Tuesday. Westover has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Westover still got an impressive performance from Jada Landers, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Wykieria Holmes, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Westover's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10. As for Monroe, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westover will square off against Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monroe, they will head out on the road to face off against Carver at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carver knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Monroe likes a good challenge.
