The result came thanks to Rylee Rawls's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Carley Teesateskie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Hadley Shuler was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Andrews came up short against Cherokee on Friday, falling 14-1.
Swain County pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Andrews, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Andrews' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Swain County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Andrews, though, as they've only averaged .120. Will they be able to contain Swain County's hitters?
Everything went Swain County's way against Andrews in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Swain County made off with a 12-0 win. Will Swain County repeat their success, or does Andrews has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
