Even though the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers have not done well against the Rising Sun Shiners recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Shawe Memorial managed a 59-53 victory over Rising Sun. This was payback for Shawe Memorial, who suffered a 64-47 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Rising Sun's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Shorten, who scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Brody Morris who scored 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Shorten scored 15 or more points. Nate Elliot was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
