After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Parry McCluer, the Gretna Hawks were happy to have found some success  on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy  52-36 win over Altavista. That's another feather in the cap for Gretna, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
 Gretna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Shakira Jones led the charge by  scoring 18 points along with six  rebounds and two  steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which  Jones has scored at least a third of Gretna's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ashley Myers, who  scored 11 points along with two  steals.
 Gretna's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Altavista, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost six of their last eight games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
 Gretna will  square off against the Raiders at 7:00  p.m.  on Monday. Appomattox County will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Altavista, they won't have much time to rest: their next  matchup is against the Fighting Blues at 2:00  p.m.  on February 3rd. Parry McCluer is coming into the  matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.
