BLANDING, Utah - A big 19-point second quarter helped carry the Beavers to a 32-7 victory over
San Juan (Blanding, Utah) on Saturday.
Beaver scored on a
Michael Roberts touchdown pass to
Payson Fails, a touchdown pass by Roberts to
McCoy Bergstrom and a Bergstrom touchdown run in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Bergstrom in the first quarter, BHS led 25-0 at the half.
San Juan's lone touchdown came on an 85-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
The Broncos came in giving up 9.8 points per game this season. San Juan had a hard time against Beaver's offense, who entered the game scoring 27.0 points per game. Beaver came into the game allowing 12.6 points per game. The seven points that SJ ended with were above its average of zero coming into the game.
BHS got revenge for last year's 25-13 loss to the Blanding school with the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for San Juan, who notched a 24-0 victory over Parowan in its previous outing. The loss snapped San Juan's two-game winning streak.
San Juan (3-3) will play a 2A - South game against Enterprise next week, while Beaver (5-1) will take on North Sevier also in a 2A - South game.
