Football Recap: Springville Starts Season with Victory Against Alta

Springville took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They snuck past the Alta Hawks with a 27-21 victory. This was payback for the Red Devils, who suffered a 34-27 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lisiate Valeti went supernova, rushing for 149 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 38 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in August of 2024. Zachary Henderson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Springville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 323 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alta only rushed for 57 rushing yards.

Springville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tuiono Valeti and Henderson. Henderson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Alta lost, don't look at Tucker Brown. Despite the final result, he threw for 286 yards and three TDs.

Coming up, Springville will be playing at home against Green Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Alta, they are taking a road trip to take on Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
