Bath County extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 13-14. They lost 11-5 to Pendleton County. Bath County was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Pendleton County earlier this season, when they won 7-0.
Parker Cox was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Isaiah Williams made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
As for Pendleton County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. The result was nothing new for Pendleton County, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
On Pendleton County's side, Colton Ortlieb tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Kevin Miles and Carter Glahn did most of the damage at the plate: Miles went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Glahn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Glahn has posted over his last ten matchups. Another player making a difference was Colton Glahn, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bath County will host Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bluejackets have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Pendleton County, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Newport at 5:30 p.m.
