Kane Decker made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Seminole Ridge is undefeated when Decker posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Kevin Valdes looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Seminole Ridge let Michael Riaboukha and Brandon Turner run wild. Riaboukha went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Turner got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Riaboukha has become a key player for Seminole Ridge: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Trenton Jenkins, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Seminole Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Forest Hill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 6-2.
Victor Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Blake Griffin was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Gonzalez, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Seminole Ridge's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Forest Hill, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
