4A Narrows recap September 17, 2013
Olympia was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to third in 4A Narrows. The Bears vanquished Willapa Valley 24-21 earlier in the week.
Gig Harbor moved up to 108 from 162 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tides climbed the ranks as a result of besting Peninsula 27-20.
Gig Harbor's dynamic duo of Connor Scanlan and Reese Carlson proved tough for the Seahawks to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Scanlan threw for 124 yards and 3 touchdowns and Carlson had 108 yards receiving. Sterling Brown helped Gig Harbor's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 22 yards.
Aaron Chantler's team's dynamic duo of Scanlan and Carlson proved to be unstoppable against Peninsula, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Charlie Dahlstrom was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Tides beat the Seahawks. The 6-foot-4 junior.
Scanlan put up the best numbers through the air as Gig Harbor defeated Peninsula.
Nathan Goltermann was the best running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 103 yards as Bellarmine Prep defeated the Seahawks. Matthew White also contributed to the rushing game with 26 yards on the ground.
He was 9-16 with 1 interceptions.
Carlson was the best wideout in 4A Narrows this week as Gig Harbor beat Peninsula.
On the heels of Lou Millie and Goltermann, the Lions have had great success on offense. Millie is tops in the league in passing with 245 yards, while Goltermann has rushed for 164 yards this season. The Tides' Carlson leads the league in receiving yards with 145 on 9 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Central Kitsap takes on second place Bellarmine Prep.
Bellarmine Prep and Lakes played the most contested game in the league this week, with Bellarmine Prep eventually emerging with a 16-14 victory. Goltermann during the win.
