Hutto is 0-4 against Cedar Ridge since February of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Hutto Hippos will head out to face off against the Cedar Ridge Raiders at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Hutto is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Manor a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Hippos haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Bailey Kelley was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Martinez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Klos, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Hutto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge won against Vandegrift on Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Cedar Ridge didn't even let Vista Ridge on the board, marking Cedar Ridge's second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Raiders have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Hutto, Cedar Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Caitlin Benningfield. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Benningfield was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Rachel Hernandez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Taylor Phillips was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The victory (which was Cedar Ridge's seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.6 runs. As for Hutto, their record is now 3-8.
Hutto might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Cedar Ridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Hutto avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
