The Trinity Christian Trojans will square off against the Parish Episcopal Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Trinity Christian took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Nolan Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings on Friday, sneaking past 13-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Hannah Coleman and Peyton Walton did most of the damage at the plate: Coleman went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Walton got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Coleman also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Kate Overmann was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Trinity Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parish Episcopal, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Nolan Catholic 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.
Olivia Waterhouse ?28 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Phoenix Jordan ?29 was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Shobe ?28, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Parish Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Trinity Christian, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Trinity Christian suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Parish Episcopal in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
