Kamiak has gone a perfect 4-0 against Archbishop Murphy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Knights will head out to take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Kamiak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Kamiak is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Snohomish on Monday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2.
Synclair Mawudeku put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Mawudeku wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Veighey, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Murphy got the win against Marysville-Pilchuck on Tuesday by a conclusive 21-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Kamiak, Archbishop Murphy also got a great game from a two-way player: Sarah Fletcher. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Fletcher was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Evans, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kayla Hookfin was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Archbishop Murphy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Archbishop Murphy and bumps their season record up to 11-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.5 runs over those games. As for Kamiak, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Both Kamiak and Archbishop Murphy just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Murphy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Kamiak's way against Archbishop Murphy when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Kamiak made off with a 13-2 victory. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
