The Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds won the last time they faced the Westwood Panthers, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Lincoln Park Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Panthers 55-53.
Lincoln Park Academy was led to victory by Haazim Marjan and J'Shaun Williams. Marjan scored ten points along with seven rebounds, while Williams scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Davion Belezair, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colton Foster, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Foster is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Crutchfield, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Westwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lincoln Park Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-12 record this season. As for Westwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-15.
Lincoln Park Academy will play host again and welcome the Panthers, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 61.08 points so far this season, Greenacres Christian's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Greyhounds better be ready for a challenge. As for Westwood, they will head out on the road to challenge the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Edward's will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
