Maricopa has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Mountain View Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Maricopa, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-14 loss to Tucson High Magnet School. Maricopa was down 28-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jose Cardona jr, who threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Nate Barlow was another key contributor, gaining 133 total yards.
Mountain View fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Nogales 55-7 at home.
Mountain View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicholas Horrocks led the charge by rushing for 149 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Lucas Schroeder made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
With Maricopa's loss and Mountain View's victory, both teams now sport identical 3-4 records.
