Laguna Creek Gets a Boost from Thorntona in 38-31 Defeat
Starting off the list is Laguna Creek's Armon Thorntona, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Thorntona rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 111 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Laguna Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. Thorntona and Laguna Creek will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sheldon at 7:15 p.m. on October 25th.

Sadly, Mitchell Labrado posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Laguna Creek over Elk Grove on Friday. Labrado threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 38 yards. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in September of 2023. His passing game has become a key predictor of Laguna Creek's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise.

Pleasant Grove was led to victory by Jacob Beals, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Beals picked up 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Pleasant Grove is 3-1 when Beals posts two or more receiving touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Beals must have Franklin's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Beals saw the Wildcats), he rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns.

Jaeden Haselrig posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He picked up 55 receiving yards, and also rushed for 54 yards on only seven carries.
