The Metro-East Lutheran Knights will head out on the road to take on the North Greene Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Metro-East Lutheran is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Metro-East Lutheran scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They managed a 37-33 victory over Murphysboro. The victory was just what Metro-East Lutheran needed coming off of a 60-13 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Metro-East Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily Kober, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and six blocks. Another player making a difference was Grace Hopp, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, North Greene's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 83-22 loss at the hands of Carrollton. While losing is never fun, North Greene can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 669th, while Carrollton is ranked 207th).
Metro-East Lutheran's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-16. As for North Greene, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Metro-East Lutheran didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against North Greene when the teams last played back in January of 2017, but they still walked away with a 46-41 win. Does Metro-East Lutheran have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Greene turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
