Basketball Recap: Emery Makes It Three in a Row at Home

If Delta wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Emery, they should've done a better job of containing West Johansen. The Emery Spartans enjoyed a cozy 68-53 win over the Delta Rabbits on Friday thanks in part to Johansen, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Scott Johansen, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Several Rabbits players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaytn Brough, who posted seven points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tate Topham, who had 13 points and five boards.

Emery pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Delta, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Emery will venture away from home to take on Richfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Richfield will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Emery surely won't give up without a fight. As for Delta, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Carbon at 7:00 p.m. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
