The Leyton Warriors's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 47-40 win over Creek Valley. That's another feather in the cap for Leyton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leyton found their leader in underclassman Calvin Borgmann, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Miller, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Creek Valley saw an underclassman step up: Lane Brenneman dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Creek Valley's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory got Leyton back to even at 10-10. As for Creek Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leyton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hyannis on February 3rd. Hyannis is coming into the match with eight straight wins at home, so Leyton is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Creek Valley, they and Banner County will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Banner County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
