The Jackson Aggies waltzed into their game on Saturday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They had just enough and edged McIntosh out 67-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Jackson has posted yet this season.
Jackson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Micah Caster out in front who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Caster is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeyun Chapman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, McIntosh still got an impressive performance from Brittney Reed Jr., who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Reed Jr. is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dristen Sullivan, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, McIntosh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Jackson pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 23rd straight at home. As for McIntosh, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson will challenge Citronelle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Citronelle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Jackson is ranked 69th). McIntosh's road trip will continue as they head out to face Leroy at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Leroy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.3 points per game.
