Westbrook is 2-7 against Gorham since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Blue Blazes will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Gorham will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Westbrook extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Blue Blazes were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over Marshwood.
Madison Ross spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Greta Krantz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Emma Boulette was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Gorham entered their tilt with Biddeford on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 17-3 victory.
Bella McBrady made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. McBrady was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Terra Rioux, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sawyer VonderHaar, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Westbrook's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Gorham, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Westbrook has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Gorham struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westbrook suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Gorham in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Blue Blazes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
