There's no place like home for the South Bend Clay Colonials, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 40-31 victory over South Bend Riley on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as South Bend Clay also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Leading South Bend Clay to victory were Maliya Freeman and Delilah Castaneda. Freeman dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Castaneda scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Freeman hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Tyrece Cunningham was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
South Bend Clay's win bumped their record up to 3-16. As for South Bend Riley, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-16.
South Bend Clay will be playing in front of their home fans against South Bend Career Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. South Bend Riley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Michigan City at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th.
