Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Bishop Manogue's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Bishop Manogue's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Reno Huskies an 11-0 shutout. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kaylee Sanchez was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiki Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sis King, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Bishop Manogue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are undefeated (10-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bishop Manogue has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Reno, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-23-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bishop Manogue is set to challenge their familiar foe Reed at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Miners 2.6, the Raiders 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Reno will take on rival Galena at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
