The Berkeley Stags will take on the Cardinal Newman Cardinals in a holiday battle at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at. Berkeley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Berkeley narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Timberland 31-28. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Berkeley has scored all year.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman was beaten by Hilton Head Christian Academy 61-32 last Friday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Teonna Draughn, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. She scored a full 50% of Cardinal Newman's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kristin Moye, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Berkeley's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Cardinal Newman, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
