The Westlake Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Paraclete Spirits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westlake is looking for their season?s first victory.
Last Friday, Westlake didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Diego and fell 31-28. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly three points.
Westlake might have lost, but man, Demanie Bell was a machine: he rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Bell got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 73 yards.
Westlake's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Julian Ramirez and Charles Davis.
Meanwhile, Paraclete was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 30-26 to Hart. The defeat continues a trend for the Spirits in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joseph Mesa, who threw for 435 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 15.5 yards per attempt. Savaughn Gentle was Mesa's top target, picking up 165 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even though they lost, Paraclete was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 550 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hart only gained 411.
Even if they lost, Paraclete's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Austin Robinson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up twohimself.
Westlake's record now sits at 0-3. As for Paraclete, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
