After a string of five wins, the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 62-51 to New Madrid County Central. While losing is never fun, Logan-Rogersville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while New Madrid County Central is ranked third).
New Madrid County Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was BJ Williamson, who scored 22 points along with four steals. Williamson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadis Jones, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Logan-Rogersville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for New Madrid County Central, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1.
Logan-Rogersville and Springfield Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Springfield Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches. As for New Madrid County Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Nixa at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. Nixa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
