Basketball Recap: Surprise Valley Drops Season-High Score on Butte Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Surprise Valley). Everything went their way against the Butte Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday as the Surprise Valley Hornets made off with a 56-34 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Hornets have posted since January 31, 2024.

Surprise Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Casey Grove, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Grove a new career-high. Andrew Eichstadt was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Stevenson, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Delgado, who had ten points.

With the victory, Surprise Valley broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-8. As for Butte Valley, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Surprise Valley will challenge Burney at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Butte Valley, they will head out to face off against Happy Camp at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
