The Coppell Cowboys will take on the Guyer Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Guyer will be up against a hot Coppell squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Cowboys strolled past Hebron with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 37-23. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cowboys' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Hawks are ranked 104th).

Coppell found their leader in sophomore Carter Zingelmann, who rushed for 67 yards and three scores, and also threw for 135 yards on nine of 17 attempts. Zingelmann is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden George, who rushed for 81 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Guyer). They blew past Flower Mound 49-7 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Guyer found their leader in sophomore Carter Morgan, who rushed for 176 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 41 yards and one TD. Morgan's longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Zephyr Kreye was another key player, rushing for 14 yards and three scores.
Guyer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.
One reason for the win was Guyer's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Zane Rowe was especially locked on to Flower Mound's QB and sacked him twice. Caleb Fowler was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making five total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Coppell's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Guyer, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Coppell was able to grind out a solid win over Guyer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 31-24. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Kevin Sperry, who threw for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 101 yards on only 14 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Cowboys to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
