On Saturday, Apollo was able to grind out a solid win over Scottsdale Christian Academy, taking the game 58-46.
Apollo was led to victory by Jordan Moreno and Christian Acevedo. Moreno scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Acevedo scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Acevedo has scored at least 25% of Apollo's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah White, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Apollo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Apollo and Kellis will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kellis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Apollo is ranked 92nd). Scottsdale Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cesar Chavez at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th.
