The Goliad Tigers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Falfurrias 63-12 on the road. Considering Goliad has won seven contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Goliad can attribute much of their success to Eli Luco, who rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Luco was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Lamont Franklin was in the mix too, providing Goliad with two touchdowns.
Goliad's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.8 points per game. As for Falfurrias, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Goliad is on the road again on Friday and play against Hondo. Hondo is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Falfurrias does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
