Pope John Paul II moved up to 97 from 128 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Division II AA - East/Middle. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of losing to McCallie 42-14.
Pope John Paul II made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,429 from 4,663. The improvement was the result of 42-14 victory over Jerry Joslin's team last week.
Father Ryan's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jamonte Graham threw for 11 yards and William Nwaokolo had 11 yards receiving. On the ground Joseph Holzmer chipped in 28 yards. Andrew White helped Father Ryan's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Ensworth's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Andrew Bowers has thrown for 1053 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Myles Pasley has 13 catches for 318 yards. Cornelius Elder leads the league in rushing with 1609 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Ensworth and Brentwood Academy. The Tigers enters the contest ranked first in the state, while the Eagles ranks fifth.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Ensworth and Brentwood Academy meet this week. Ricky Bowers' team features well-regarded sophomore Rico McGraw while Cody White's team has Jalen Ramsey, a sought after senior.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on the Eagles. Ensworth has allowed 83 points this season, while Brentwood Academy has given up 100.
