Grove City gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over the Teays Valley Vikings. With the Greyhounds ahead 28-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Ayden Mckinstry went supernova for Grove City, rushing for 180 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Mckinstry's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Welsh, who threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Grove City was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 428 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
