Baseball Recap: Saguaro Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Saguaro's win against Mesquite wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Saguaro narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mesquite 9-7. The win was familiar territory for the Sabercats, who have now won three matches in a row.

Carter Bond looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Saguaro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Louis Busseri, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Busseri has posted since back in February. Another was Kyle Miiller, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Saguaro pushed their record up to 8-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mesquite, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saguaro will square off against Perry at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
