The Alpaugh Buffalos are on the road again on Friday and play against the Legacy Christian Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on December 8th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-32, which was the final score in Alpaugh's tilt against Caruthers on Monday.
Despite their defeat, Alpaugh saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jesus Nunez, who scored 6 points along with 21 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Alcazar, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Legacy Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-43 walloping at the hands of Trinity Classical Academy. While losing is never fun, Legacy Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1230th, while Trinity Classical Academy is ranked 411th).
Alpaugh has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Legacy Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Alpaugh won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January, slipping by Legacy Christian Academy 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alpaugh since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
