The Wakulla War Eagles won the last time they faced the St. John Paul II Panthers, and things went their way on Friday too. Wakulla enjoyed a cozy 42-24 win over St. John Paul II.
Wakulla got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Victoria Proulx out in front who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Proulx scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyendra Thomas, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aliyah Medrano, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Medrano has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Blakely Naumann was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Wakulla is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for St. John Paul II, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wakulla and Wewahitchka will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wewahitchka is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for St. John Paul II, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Maclay at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
