Somerset Academy - Canyons is a perfect 5-0 against Atlantic Christian since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars will head out to take on the Atlantic Christian Sharks at 3:30 p.m. Somerset Academy - Canyons is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Somerset Academy - Canyons will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Leonard on Thursday. Somerset Academy - Canyons had just enough and edged out Leonard 10-8. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won seven in a row.
Tyler Watters was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. Jacob Miller also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atlantic Christian). They put the hurt on Inlet Grove with a sharp 32-1 victory on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.
Ryan Kimmel made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kimmel was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with six RBI and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Reily Campusano was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, four RBI, and one double. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Giovanni Garcia was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Atlantic Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
The win got Somerset Academy - Canyons back to even at 3-3. As for Atlantic Christian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Somerset Academy - Canyons has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Somerset Academy - Canyons' way against Atlantic Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Somerset Academy - Canyons made off with a 12-1 win.
