This season hasn't been kind to the Tonopah Valley Phoenix, who are still winless after their eighth game. They fell 54-45 to Alchesay on Saturday.
Alchesay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Gushoney led the charge by scoring ten points along with five steals. Gushoney continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Brent Aday was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Tonopah Valley bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Alchesay, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tonopah Valley will take on Odyssey Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Odyssey Institute is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Alchesay, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Window Rock at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Window Rock and Alchesay are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
