East Coweta is 9-1 against Newnan since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The East Coweta Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Newnan Cougars at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (East Coweta is ranked 146th, while Newnan is ranked 129th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but East Coweta ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Riverdale out 72-69. The win made it back-to-back wins for East Coweta.
East Coweta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carby Martin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The game was Martin's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Simmons, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Newnan didn't have too much trouble with Banneker at home on Tuesday as they won 48-30. The victory was just what Newnan needed coming off of a 69-43 loss in their prior contest.
East Coweta has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 4-3 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Newnan, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
East Coweta was able to grind out a solid victory over Newnan in their previous matchup back in January, winning 53-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Coweta since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
