The Sahuaro Cougars put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 64-9 win over Goldwater. Considering Sahuaro has won eight matches by more than 26 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Sahuaro's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kristen Valdez, who scored 15 points. The match was Valdez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Biale Sika, who scored ten points.
Sahuaro's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Goldwater, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Sahuaro won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Desert View at 3:00 p.m. on December 15th. Desert View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Sahuaro is ranked 11th). Goldwater won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sierra Linda at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Sierra Linda is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
