Rocky River hasn't had much luck against Lakewood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Reagan Kane made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Smalley, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addie Dietrich also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Rocky River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lakewood's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to Buckeye. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Rangers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Lakewood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Bower, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Rocky River, their record now sits at 8-5.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rocky River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347.
