Baseball Game Preview: Mills University Studies Comets vs. Malvern Leopards

The Mills University Studies Comets will head out to challenge the Malvern Leopards at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mills University Studies is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Mills University Studies took an eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bauxite, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Comets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Miners on Thursday. While the Comets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mills University Studies saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaramis Briggs, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Briggs is becoming a predictor of the Comets' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another was Mychael Flowers, who earned three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Malvern got themselves on the board against Fountain Lake on Tuesday, but Fountain Lake never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Cobras. The victory continues a trend for the Leopards in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now won three in a row.

Malvern now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mills University Studies, their record is now 9-4.

Mills University Studies might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Malvern in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
