Baseball Game Preview: Spooner Rails vs. Barron Golden Bears

Spooner is 7-2 against Barron since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rails are taking a road trip to square off against the Golden Bears at 3:00 p.m. Spooner is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Spooner will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Hayward, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rails narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hurricanes 4-2. That's two games straight that the Rails have won by exactly two runs.

Spooner's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Sobralski, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Barron's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ladysmith. Golden Bears fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Lumberjacks since on Tuesday.

Spooner pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Barron, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4-1.

Spooner took their win against Barron in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rails since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
