They walked away with a 50-40 victory over Neodesha. Given Humboldt's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Neodesha is ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Humboldt to victory were Sam Hull and Colden Cook. Hull scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, while Cook scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Hull hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Mason Sterling was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Humboldt is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Neodesha, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Humboldt will take on Cherryvale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Humboldt is coming into the matchup with 14 straight victories at home, meaning Cherryvale will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Neodesha will take on Northeast at TBD on Tuesday.
