Basketball Game Preview: Nova Titans vs. Plantation Colonels

Nova is 6-0 against Plantation since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Nova Titans will host the Plantation Colonels at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Nova is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Montverde Academy, who was ranked first at the time (Nova was ranked 23rd). Nova took a blow against Montverde Academy on Saturday, falling 64-35. The Titans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite their loss, Nova saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaelynn Housey, who posted 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Housey has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 28 times she's played. J'Yan Tyrell was another key player, putting up four points along with five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Plantation was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Piper 56-24.

Geriyah Williams was Plantation's leading scorer, having posted five points. Williams also led the team in rebounds with eight.

Plantation's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Nova, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Nova hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.1 points per game. It's a different story for Plantation, though, as they've been averaging only 29.4 points. The only thing between Nova and another offensive beatdown is Plantation. Will they be able to keep them contained?

Everything came up roses for Nova against Plantation in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 61-8 victory. In that game, Nova amassed a halftime lead of 45-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
