The St. Mary's Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Nichols Vikings at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Nichols' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
St. Mary's is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Hutchinson-Central Tech on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lancers with their most commanding win of the season.

St. Mary's got a massive performance out of Trent Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two hits gave Campbell a new career-high. Alex Abreu was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
St. Mary's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Nichols hadn't done well against St. Francis recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Vikings never let the Red Raiders get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Ross Yoshida was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek McIntyre, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Nichols pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Mary's has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Nichols struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Mary's came out on top in a nail-biter against Nichols in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
