Even though St. Mary's scored an imposing 64 points on Sunday, Martha's Vineyard Regional still came out on top. Martha's Vineyard Regional took their match against the Spartans 77-64.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Cape Cod Academy, who are still winless after their 16th matchup. They fell 57-48 to Monomoy on Friday. While losing is never fun, Cape Cod Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Sharks are ranked 85th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Mikey Santos, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Cassidy, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Martha's Vineyard Regional is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Cape Cod Academy, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16.
Everything came up roses for Martha's Vineyard Regional against the Seahawks when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 80-38 win. With Martha's Vineyard Regional ahead 49-19 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
