West Yosemite recap October 22, 2013
Hanford scaled the state rankings by moving to 455 from 486 this week, the biggest jump in West Yosemite. The Bullpups climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Golden West 48-8.
Hanford led the league in scoring this week by notching 48 points on the Trailblazers. Jake Young threw for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 63 yards in the win.
Young provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Josh Young's team beat Golden West. Young's key target this week was Demetrius Curry, who caught 7 passes for 109 yards.
Jordan Brooks threw for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 21-33 with 1 interception.
Joseph McDaniel was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 111 yards on 10 carries as the Bullpups beat Paul Preheim's team. Teammate Young added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Young of Hanford is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,793. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Rickie Garcia. The Redwood star has 30 catches for 598 yards.
The top two teams in West Yosemite will face off this week when first place Redwood takes on second place El Diamante.
