The Shady Acres Christian Mavericks pushed their score all the way to 63 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Covenant Preparatory School.
The Covenant Preparatory School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tye Leatherman, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Leatherman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jay Reyes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists.
Shady Acres Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for The Covenant Preparatory School, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Shady Acres Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on School of the Woods at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. The Covenant Preparatory School will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Legacy Prep Christian Academy at 9:30 a.m. on December 28th.
