Lawrence strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars by a score of 5-2. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Lawrence pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 6.6 runs this season. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Washburn Rural at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 2, the Blues 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, they will head out to face off against Olathe North on Tuesday.
